Last month, we went over a few of the major advantages of choosing to take a private dance lesson with Dancing for Life. Now while that may be the best option for some, we’re sure that there are just as many of you who are curious about what you can gain from a group lesson instead. Regardless of whether you have all of the confidence in the world or if you are just looking to come out of your shell a little bit, you’ll find that group dance lessons can be both fun and beneficial.
For starters, it’s a great way for you to learn how you should interact with other couples on the dance floor. Lots of couples show interest in taking dance lessons because they will be getting married soon and don’t want to look silly on the dance floor. Group lessons will allow you to practice social dance etiquette and floorcraft so that when you’re joined by other guests after the first dance, you’ll be able to continue to move fluidly without hesitation.
If you’re not very comfortable under a spotlight and know that you will need to dance in front of a crowd, you’re probably pretty nervous – especially if you’ve never danced before! Choosing to take group dance lessons and practicing movements in front of others is advantageous. That way, when the time comes to make your dancing debut, your nerves won’t take over when all eyes are on you.
Taking group lessons will also help you to realize that you’re not the only one in the world who thinks they have two left feet. While some are blessed with natural rhythm, others struggle and need a bit more practice to make it work – and that’s okay!
Last but not least, dancing with others is fun and an opportunity to make new friends! Once you get in there and get going with your friends or others like you who are simply interested in bettering their skills, you’ll really start to loosen up. There’s less pressure when a class isn’t entirely focused around you and when you mess up or finally nail a move, the others will be there to give you encouragement. Soon enough, you’ll start to look forward to class!
Here at Dancing for Life, we choose to offer both private and group dance lessons because everyone learns at their own pace in their own comfort zone. So if that comfort zone happens to be in a group environment, give us a call today!
